A remarkable business
exists in this community, with an equally remarkable family at its
helm. It is amazing in this day of reported corporate greed, where
all decisions seem to be predicated by the bottom line, that in
Shoreline, there are four people running a company who care deeply about their employees and the community they are a
part of. The business is the Anderson House, a retirement, assisted
living, skilled nursing, rehabilitation and adult family home
facility.
Employing 175 people, the current ownership consists of Andy
Anderson, Pam Matiko and Lisa Lewis. Andy, Pam and Lisa are 3rd
generation owners, as well as siblings. In fact, they literally grew
up on the Anderson House campus while their parents Larry and Lova
ran the business for more than 20 years. Originally established by
Bernice and Paul Anderson, grandparents of the current owners, the
Anderson House has operated in the same location for 40 years. The
Andersons are justifiably proud of their business and the commitment
they make to their employees. They offer a strong benefits program,
and their staff turnover rate of only 5% is nearly unheard of in
today's senior health care market.
